We've been learning how to multiply and divide fractions. We also learned how to cancel factors in the numerator and denominator of a fraction so it is way easier to find the answer. The way we remember how to divide fractions is in a rap! It says, "Keep, change, flip, yeah that's the action! Everybody's gonna know how we're dividing fractions!" Change means to switch the division to multiplication. Flip means to write the reciprocal of the second fraction. Here's us singing the rap. Check it out!
Our next chapter in math was all about fractions, decimals, and percents. We learned how to convert them and also how to compare them. We played a game to help us remember the benchmarks that are important to memorize, like that 25% is equal to 1/4 of something. We spent a lot of time talking about how they are used in the real world, like when you go shopping and there is a sale for a percent off. We made stores and went "shopping" for sales. On Halloween, we found the percent of different colors of skittles in one bag. What was your favorite thing we did to learn about fractions, decimals, and percents? Do you remember the toy cars we used to find ratios and unit rates? Or the colorful cubes we used in class to write ratios? In math we are learning about ratios, rates, and unit rates. Today we used grocery store advertisements to find unit rates of food items and figured out how much we could buy with a pretend budget. Well we will also be using ratios to make trail mix out of pretzels, mini marshmallows, M&Ms, cereal, and popcorn! Don't you think Ms. Bad is cool and fun? Hope you are having fun in math class. Do you like ratios, rates, and unit rates? So fun, right? Please answer below if you can! In math class this week, we are reviewing. Dun, dun, dun! But have a positive attitude. Bootcamp is how we are reviewing so we are ready for harder math. I like bootcamp, do you guys like bootcamp?
