On Veterans' Day, we had a veteran come visit our class. His name was Mr. Cutler. We asked him questions and he told us about the military and the Korean War. We made him a book of poems and illustrations thanking him for his service. For our veterans, we also had our 5K run! The fastest people got prizes. There was also a bouncy house! After you ran, you could also get awesome swag bags. The race was a big success. What did you think about Mr. Cutler visiting our class and the 5K race?
This year our grade is helping to do a Veteran's 5K run. We are doing this to raise money for Continue Mission, a local organization that helps veterans. The best part is anyone come run, walk, or wheel! 5$ per runner, 25$ per family, and veterans run for free. Sign up online today! If you are a student, don't forget you can get pledge money by asking your family, friends, and neighbors to donate money to the cause. Pledge money is due on November 4th. The 5K is at Wasatch Peak Academy, 414 North Cutler Drive in Salt Lake City. It is on Saturday, November 12th at 9:00 AM. Come and run the race to help us serve our veterans. In class we worked on creating posters advertising the 5K and put them around the school. Some kids also made some videos to get people excited for the 5K! Veterans ran for us, now we can run for them! |
